This handcrafted itinerary artfully blends Egypt’s ancient wonders with meaningful local encounters and boutique accommodations, offering a rare window into the spirit of the Nile.

Begin your adventure in Cairo’s historic heart, staying at the elegant Le Riad Hotel de Charme on Moez Street, one of the oldest thoroughfares in the Islamic world. Fly to Luxor, ancient Thebes, and unwind at the enchanting Al Moudira Hotel on the West Bank. Here, you’ll step into the timeless world of the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, Medinet Habu, and Deir el-Medina. A walk through local markets and a home-cooked meal with a Luxor family offer intimate insight into modern Egyptian life rooted in ancient tradition.

Then, board the Queen Charlotte Dahabeya, your private Nile cruise vessel. Sail at a gentle pace from Luxor to Aswan, stopping at Esna, Edfu, and Kom Ombo. Unlike mass-market cruises, this luxurious sailing experience includes private temples, tranquil riverside villages, and moments of connection along the Nile’s timeless banks.

Transfer privately to your hotel, Le Riad Hotel de Charme, located in the heart of historic Moez Street, a living monument to Cairo’s golden age. Here, Fatimid, Ayyubid, Mamluk, and Ottoman architecture coexist in a street once known as the “Qasaba of Cairo,” the city’s main thoroughfare for over 1,000 years. Your boutique hotel places you within walking distance of mosques, sabils, khans, and bustling markets, offering a first taste of Egypt’s layered history.

Day 2: Giza – The Great Pyramids, Sphinx & The Grand Egyptian Museum

Begin your journey with the timeless icons of ancient Egypt. At the Giza Plateau, marvel at the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the last surviving wonder of the ancient world, built over 4,500 years ago with precise alignment to the stars. Explore its smaller companions, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, and behold the Great Sphinx, a colossal guardian carved from a single limestone ridge.

Next, visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)—the world’s largest archaeological museum—housing over 100,000 artifacts. Here, Tutankhamun’s entire funerary collection is displayed for the first time together, alongside colossal statues, ancient textiles, and mummies that speak to Egypt’s artistic and religious sophistication.

Day 3: Saqqara & Dahshur – The Origins of Pyramid Building

Start your morning with a traditional Egyptian breakfast in a family-run farmhouse near Dahshur. Then, explore Dahshur, home to the Bent Pyramid, a rare transitional form with its unique change in angle, and the Red Pyramid, the first true smooth-sided pyramid built by Pharaoh Sneferu.

Continue to Saqqara, Egypt’s oldest royal necropolis. Stand before the Step Pyramid of Djoser, designed by the architect Imhotep in the 27th century BCE. This masterpiece marked the transition from mastaba tombs to the iconic pyramid form. Walk through richly decorated tombs of nobles, where daily life scenes—hunting, music, and feasting—are frozen in vibrant detail.

Visit the Hanging Church, suspended above a Roman gatehouse, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue, where legend holds the infant Moses was found. At the Amr Ibn Al-As Mosque, walk through the first mosque built in Africa.

Later, return to the heart of Egypt’s antiquities at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, which houses mummies, sarcophagi, jewellery, and statuary from over 30 dynasties. Admire masterpieces such as the Narmer Palette and treasures from the reigns of Amenhotep III and Ramses II.

This afternoon, explore a local market where you’ll witness daily Egyptian life—colorful spice mounds, bundles of mint, hand-woven baskets, and seasonal produce. Then, visit a local home for an authentic cultural exchange. Share stories over mint tea, and if you wish, join a casual cooking session to learn about traditional ingredients and customs handed down through generations.

Day 6: Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s Temple, Medinet Habu & Deir el-Medina

Today, journey into the Theban Necropolis, a landscape of sacred cliffs and tombs carved into the arid hills.

Explore the legendary Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs of the New Kingdom prepared for eternity. Descend into beautifully painted tombs like those of Tutankhamun, Seti I, or Ramses VI, with their celestial ceilings and intricate funerary texts.

Visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, Egypt’s most powerful female pharaoh. This mortuary temple, carved into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, is a marvel of symmetry and innovation. Nearby, discover Medinet Habu, the mortuary temple of Ramses III, with its vivid battle scenes and towering pylons.

End your day at Deir el-Medina, the village of tomb artisans. These craftsmen were among the few literate Egyptians, and their own tombs offer rare glimpses into private lives during the pharaohs’ golden age.

Day 7: Luxor’s East Bank – Karnak & Luxor Temples | Embark on Dahabiya

Cross to the East Bank to visit Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex ever built. Walk through the monumental Hypostyle Hall, with its 134 towering columns, and see the sacred lake, obelisks, and shrines devoted to Amun-Ra, the hidden god of creation.

Then visit Luxor Temple, built by Amenhotep III and expanded by Ramses II. Uniquely connected to Karnak via the Avenue of Sphinxes, it was the focal point of the Opet Festival, celebrating the divine union of pharaoh and god.

Then take a boat to Philae Temple, the elegant island sanctuary of Isis, goddess of motherhood and magic. Rescued from floodwaters by UNESCO, this temple still carries whispers of ancient prayers.
